El Ammariya is a symbol of virginity. In Morocco a bride travels in this box before her wedding. There are holes in the side permitting her to view her surroundings.

It's a wooden box, about three feet high and two feet square with a pointed roof. It is used to carry a bride from her home to the bridegroom's. This is the first ritual in the bride's passage to marriage. She leaves her home as a virgin and a daughter to become a married woman. If she is not married for the first time, she has to walk there.
