Over the years I've collected several bird photos that I share here.

Atlantic Puffins

These are the only puffins found in the Atlantic Ocean. There are two other species of puffin, the tufted puffin and the horned puffin, which are found in the Pacific Ocean.

With a distinctive appearance., Atlantic puffins are black and white birds with colorful beaks. Their beaks are brightly colored in the spring and summer, but they lose their color in the fall and winter.

They are excellent swimmers and divers. Atlantic puffins can swim up to 60 miles per hour underwater. They use their wings to fly underwater and their feet to steer.

They eat small fish such as herring, sand eels, and capelin. They can carry up to 10 fish in their beaks at a time.

Atlantic puffins live in colonies of up to 10,000 birds. They nest in burrows on cliffs and islands.

Atlantic puffins are threatened by climate change, overfishing, and pollution.
