Balankanche Cavern is an ancient Maya cave site near Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexico. For over 2,000 years, it was used for rituals dedicated to the Maya rain god, Chaac, and later to the Toltec deity, Tlaloc.
One of its most striking features is a stalactite and stalagmite formation resembling a sacred Maya tree, surrounded by ritual offerings.
